Lampworking and Beadmaking Classes

LAMPWORK SKILL LEVEL AND REQUIREMENTS

Age Requirement: Students must be 18 years of age for open-torch (lampworking) sessions unless approved by the teacher.

Beginner: Beginner students have no prior experience working with hot glass or have had some experience on a hot head (single fuel) torch.

Advanced Beginner: The advanced beginner student has taken an introductory class in hot-glass beadmaking on either a hot head or duel-fuel torch and can make a basic bead. Advanced beginner students could also be individuals looking for a “refresher” course on the basics of lampwork beadmaking.

Intermediate: The intermediate student has experience in and outside of class on a dual-fuel torch. The student should be able to readily form beads, work with stringers and other simple decoration techniques with confidence without one-on-one instructor assistance.

Advanced: The advanced student has considerable experience on a dual-fuel torch and can comfortably form a variety of bead shapes. The students should have an understanding of how to keep a form while decorating a bead and should be able to make a stringer and apply them in a consistent manner to the bead.
