This is a 1-day class designed for those who want a brief introduction to frame knitting, also called machine knitting. No previous knitting experience required. Students will learn to knit on a frame while making a cotton shopping bag. It’s the latest rage! Students will be introduced to different types of knitting frames, learn how to get knitting started, knit stockinette fabric and explore some interesting finishing techniques.
Supplies: Paper, pencil, calculator, scissors, tape measure, tapestry needle, lunch. Yarn and knitting frames will be supplied.

This is a class for intermediate/advanced frame knitters, also known as machine knitters, who want to expand their skills. The discussion topic for the Fall 2009 session is designing and knitting double jacquard. Also, students will work on topics of interest to them or on projects of their choosing, at their own pace, with instructor assistance. Knitters will have access to standard gauge, mid gauge and bulky gauge knitting frames with manual, punchcard and electronic patterning capability.
Supplies: Paper, pencil, scissors, tape measure, calculator. If you have a project idea, bring appropriate materials.

This is a 3-day class designed for those who want to learn to knit using a knitting frame, also called a knitting machine. Beginning knitters will learn how the knitting frame works and the basic techniques needed to knit fabric and garments. Some of these techniques include casting on, binding off and measuring gauge. Methods for shaping and seaming knitted pieces will be covered. Students will knit a project which incorporates the techniques. No previous knitting experience required. Students who have taken Introduction to Frame Knitting should register for this class if they want to continue to explore frame knitting. However, students are not required to take Introduction to Frame Knitting before they take Frame Your Knitting.

This class is designed for those who have some
knowledge of frame/machine knitting and want to
learn more skills. Students should know how to
cast on, bind off and knit stockinette fabric with
a frame. Students will learn to read and interpret
frame knitting patterns. Basic garment construction
techniques will be discussed, including methods
for shaping and seaming. Stitch patterns such as
tuck and slip stitches will be explored. . Students
will knit a project which will allow them to use their
newly acquired skills.
Supplies: Paper, pencil, calculator, scissors, tape measure, practice yarns for standard, mid or bulky gauge machines, tapestry needle, T-pins, lunch. Yarns for projects will be discussed in class.
