Heather WinslowGuest Speaker: Heather Winslow

Before the runway show, we were treated to an inside look at the woven wonders of guest speaker, Heather Winslow. Heather spoke Iris Capebriefly about her journey and weaving adventures in the area of handwoven clothing. She spoke about how she looks upon her garment designs as three dimensional sculptures which use subtle simplicity to adorn the body in a very positive way and make the wearer feel “special” by the very act of putting it on. She spoke about three of her creations being modeled on the runway during her presentation. The one she is most renowned for is her cape entitled Irises, woven in the Moorman Technique, a technique she has perfected in many of her garment designs.

While Heather conducts workshops on all aspects of garment design throughout the U.S. and Canada, we are proud and very fortunate to have her as a faculty member of The Fine Line Creative Arts Center. Published in a number of national fiber magazines, she is also the author of More on Moorman: Theo Moorman Inlay Adapted to Clothing.
