Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are the heart and soul of The Fine Line. Without their giving
of time, energy and talent, The Fine Line could not easily offer the
exciting and enriching classes and workshops and events that nurture
the creative spirit.
Volunteering is a wonderful way to meet new people,
new challenges, new opportunities to use your skills and share your talents
and experience
with a wider community of creative people. Below is a list of volunteer
opportunities along with a brief description of the tasks involved. Perhaps
you will find one or two that will interest you.
Interested in volunteering? We would love to hear
from you!

Mailings
Most of our mailings include our class schedules, newsletter Table Talk, and
an annual appeal letter. Mailings such as these are provided by a service.
However, from time to time we do need individuals to help us label and stamp
post cards announcing our exhibits. These occur about six times a year and
probably would take a couple hours of your time. In late August we have a
very large mailing which includes stuffing and sealing our Uncommon Threads
Invitations.
Hospitality
The Fine Line needs members to meet and greet attendees at our various events.
We need people to help set up, take down, and take care of the reception
table at each of our Kavanagh Gallery Exhibits.
Fundraising
The Fine LIne needs volunteers who have had experience in fundraising events
and procedures. If you have experience in grant writing, we would like to
be able to call upon you to help us formulate our special requests to foundations,
organize the writing, guide us through the process.
Public Relations
Do you have public relations experience? Are you a writer? Help us get The
Fine Line's name out there to the public. Help us integrate communications
about TFL's mission statement, our classes/ workshops, and fundraising events.
Computer Assistance
Our networking abillity is growing. So is our database. Can you spare some
time, talent, energy to help us with our membership data?
Uncommon Threads
A host of volunteers put on our biggest fundraiser of the year. Some of the
areas where help is needed are the Accessories Boutique, Raffle, Hostessing,
Program Ads, Day of Show Sales, Models, Tickets, Dressers for the Models,
Publicity, Marketing, Graphic Arts, Extra Garment Sales, and the Invitation
Mailing.
Christmastime at The
Fine Line: Members Show & Sale
A number of tasks involved in this mini fundraiser are checking in the artists'
inventories, setting up/taking down the show, greeters for the Friday Opening
Reception, setting up/taking down the reception table, sales personnel, and
all around gallery help.
Raku Day
This is a great day for our potters who help create the pots and vessels to
be fired. Help (other than our potters) is needed for setting up the tents,
tables, firing areas, manning the reception booth, taking care of getting/selling
the food at the concession stand, setting up and displaying artwork for sale.
Annual Student Show
Mounting the show (usually takes about 4-5 hours), setting up/taking down the
reception table, greeters for the Opening Reception, and computer assistance
with identification labels.
Gallery Exhibits
Checking in the artists' inventories, setting up/taking down the show, greeters
for the Opening Reception, setting up/taking down the reception table, computer
assistance with identification labels.
Clean Up / Outdoor Work
We need people interested in gardening to help us keep our grounds looking
picture perfect. We need people to help in the spring, summer and autumn
months to weed, plant and water the garden beds.
